What is ADVATx?

In layman’s terms, ADVATx (otherwise known as Advalight or Advaclear) is a laser treatment that, unlike many others on the market, can address numerous skin conditions without downtime, meaning you don’t have to make any major changes to your daily routines and doesn’t require “a stay-in-the-house sitch,” as explained by Mona Gohara, MD, a board-certified dermatologist in Hamden, Connecticut.

How does it work? As Houston-based board-certified dermatologist Suneel Chilukuri, MD, explains, “ADVATx uses two unique wavelengths of light, 589 nm and 1319 nm, combining high-powered yellow and infrared laser energy that targets general redness, blood vessel abnormalities, pigment, and acne without damaging the skin.” [Dr. Chilukuri is a partner of ADVATx who uses the machine at his practice.]

Its ability to operate on different wavelengths grants it an extremely high degree of versatility. “It is FDA-cleared for 25 indications which include the following; inflammatory acne, port wine stains, telangiectasia, rosacea, hemangiomas, venous lakes, angiomas, scars, striae, warts, wrinkles, psoriasis, spider veins, melasma, hyperpigmentation, skin rejuvenation, fine lines, atrophic acne scars, and reduction in the appearance of pores.” Whew.
